Sugar Cookies

Bake at 350°F for 8 to 10 minutes

3/4 c. butter
3/4 c. sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. Cream of Tartar
1/2 tsp. salt
1 TBsp. vanilla

Roll into balls and press with sugared glass.  Bake at 350°F for 8 to 10 minutes.

If desired, use colored sugar to add a more festive flavor to your dessert.

These square shaped cookies can help you create Love Letter Cookies for your funny Valentine.  See the recipe below for a tasty treat.

After Feb. 14th, use the cookie cutters to create mini-sandwiches for high tea and/or hors d’oeuvres.

You and everyone else will love these yummy cookies!

Ingredients: 
1 1/2c. butter, softened
2 c. sugar
4 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla extract
5 c. all-purpose flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt

Directions:
1. In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Stir in the flour, baking powder, and salt. Cover, and chill dough for at least one hour (or overnight).
2. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Roll out dough on floured surface 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick. Cut into shapes with any cookie cutter. Place cookies 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheets.
3. Bake 6 to 8 minutes in preheated oven. Cool completely.
